Well, a few people asked me questions. So I have answers!

What is your waist measurement (if that’s not too personal)? It’s *very* pretty.

Right now I honestly don’t know! When I started wearing corsets, I think I was wearing 32″ and probably 35″ natural. Over time I got down to wearing a 24″ but with much more reduction, so probably 28-30″ natural. I’ve probably gone back up, I don’t think I can wear my 26″ anymore, or even my 28″, but I am working on bringing it back down because I miss wearing corsets. I have them in my closet and I see them all the time, so it’s a good motivator! (I can’t afford to buy one that would fit the shape I am now.)

Buttsechs?

On occasion, under specific circumstances.

You posted a lot about your recent diagnosis of permanent hearing loss and that you’ve been reclassified at school. How has that affected your classes and friendships at school?

It’s funny…most of my friends are really happy for me, and at least one of my hearing friends is jealous! Pretty much every time I told somebody, they said “oh congratulations!” or something to that effect. It doesn’t affect my classes or friendships at all since everything is in ASL all the time anyway. In fact, school is the only place having a hearing loss has absolutely no effect whatsoever! Outside of school I’m constantly asking people to repeat themselves, etc - but school is no problem at all. My friends all seem to be pretty much happy for me, though…it’s cute. One of my friends even gave me a big hug when I told him about it. :)

what’s your favorite food?

Peanut butter all the way. No matter what form it’s in, I love peanut butter. Cookies, cakes, candies, ice cream, pies, soup, main dish, sandwiches…I love peanut butter!

I received this via a friend who shall remain nameless…

A school friend recently committed suicide and want to do something to commemorate her memory and help other who are filled with despair. So I have decided to start a website so people can share their true personal stories of situations they have over come it doesn’t have to deep and heavy it can be light-hearted, contributions can be anonymous if they want.

I was wonder if you would be interested in contributing? If so please send your contributions to
yourstoryblog@aol.com

My advice for sending e-mail anonymously is to open a Gmail account, they’re free for everyone now.

It’s not Friday, but I just caught up with these questions courtesy Neil and I’m answering them now.

What’s your native language? Do you speak any foreign languages? If so, how did you come to learn them?
My native language is American English, presumably spoken with a mid-Atlantic accent. I speak ASL fluently enough to be a professional interpreter - I picked that one up over the years and took some classes at Gallaudet as well. I speak and understand French reasonably well (I struggle with writing because I’m a perfectionist about grammar) after having studied it for eight years in school. I can still sound out Russian and identify some words because I studied it briefly in high school. My current language project is Esperanto, though I’m not doing much right now in terms of self-study.

Hooray for Filkerdave - he was nice enough to come up with five questions for me to answer!

  1. What fictional character would you most like to be, and why? - The one that springs to mind first is Deanna Troi from ST:TNG. When I was a kid I always thought it would be really cool to be empathic.
  2. What’s the coolest thing about your SideKick that you DIDN’T know about before you bought it? - I’m not sure if I knew about the terminal client capability when I bought it. It is definitely awesome to be able to MOO from my Sidekick. Plus I like that the light flashes several different colors!
  3. Is there any Hello Kitty stuff that you just have no desire to own, ever? What is it? - The only thing I can come up with is candy/food…because I eat it and then it’s gone and I don’t have it anymore!
  4. Have you ever tried to learn another form of sign besides ASL? (Is there a French version? I assume there must be.) - Yes indeed, there are dozens of sign languages used all over the world. Funnily enough, LSF (French SL) and ASL are more closely related than ASL and BSL (British SL)! It’s unlikely I would need to learn LSF unless I were going to work in France, because if I were just there as a tourist the two languages are mutually intelligible enough that most American signers can get by in France. As for learning another sign language, the closest I’ve come is trying to learn British fingerspelling, but it’s so different from ASL that I only remember the vowels.
  5. What place do you and A want to go on your next big vacation? - Japan!

If you would like me to ask you five questions too, please feel free to comment.
