This is a quasi-meme. If you have Netflix, go to your queue and look in the “Genre” column for documentaries. Pick 5 and post them. It’s okay if you post less than 5, but not more, so we can keep things tidy! Personally I have a lot more than 5, I love documentaries. That’s why I’m forcing this meme upon you - so I can see what documentaries I might have missed and would want to add to my queue. If you don’t have Netflix, find 5 and post them. You can post as a comment to this entry, or as an entry in your own journal.

Here’s my 5:

I’ve picked out a new design for my site. I ended up going with the beautiful Illacrimo, but there were several other possibilities. I also liked DIY Theme, Bloomingday, Oceanwide, Pink Sunset, Fresh, Zen, and Beauty Bling.

It’s going to be a good vacation, because the cosmos are in alignment - my awful co-worker wasn’t even here today! In between smiling and nodding while chatting with her very friendly drama queen replacement (who I had to tell not to talk on the phone about condoms while in a professional office), I browsed the 2005 expunged LiveJournal list and picked out a set of fun names. These are only available to users who purchase a $15 rename token - they can’t be created as new journals or communities. (Also, as a side note, I’m thinking about revamping my entire website. More to come on this later.)

I was feeling a bit irritated about a few things, so I figured I’d take a break and play a little game. My registrar, Dotster, has a cool search engine where you can put in any word and find interesting available URLs related to that word. (Upon logging in, I also discovered that I had been given enchantedforestmd.info for free because I have enchantedforestmd.org already. Ha!) Anyway, I typed “blog” into the search engine to see what it kicked back. There were thousands of results, of course, so I went through the first ten pages to see what was fun. As far as I can tell these are all available to register!

Here is a list of things I have done so far today:

  1. Woke up, got dressed, had breakfast, came to work
  2. Worked on the Eric Conveys an Emotion mood theme for LiveJournal
  3. Played Neopets
  4. Read my LiveJournal friends
  5. Surfed Blog Explosion
  6. Drank a liter of water
  7. Walked downstairs, got lunch, ate lunch

That’s about it so far. Notice the distinct lack of actual working! My two clients are both out of the office today, so I am spinning around and around in my chair.

I’m in a good mood today for several reasons.

  1. I lost weight for two weeks in a row!
  2. I found out that I am going to get a PS2 for Xmas. My wife will be putting her money together with that of another friend or two in order to get one.
  3. That other friend also has a birthday close to Xmas, and understands that getting a combined Xmas/birthday present can be annoying. So he wants to get me a separate birthday gift and I get to put together a list.
  4. After struggling with auctions on eBay all weekend, I finally won an auction today for my dad’s Xmas present.
  5. I found one of my wife’s presents online for much cheaper than I thought it was going to be.
  6. I ordered my mom’s present and my wife’s other present, thereby completing my major holiday shopping.
  7. I found out that Malcolm used to be on GEnie!
  8. Today is moving at a fast clip, it hasn’t dragged at all.

Hooray for good days!

It’s the season of gift giving in many parts of the world, and there’s a meme to match! The full rules are here, but a quick summary is that participants post their own holiday wishlists and then surf the wishlists of friends, granting wishes where possible. I already have multiple wishlists online, but I figured I’d narrow it down to ten items…including some that aren’t on my other lists! I’m asking family to put money into the pot and get me a used PS2, but I haven’t developed a list of games that I want yet, so none of those are included. Anyway, here’s my list!

  1. Star Trek (TOS) Season 1 on DVD
  2. Autographed copy of Wil Wheaton’s book Just a Geek
  3. A laptop with better than 64mb RAM, and with a CD burner
  4. Thinkgeek gift certificate
  5. Temporary membership to AmazingTy.com
  6. Patterns for crocheting hats with ears (like this one, this one, and this one)
  7. Pointe ballet shoes
  8. JT’s Stockroom gift certificate
  9. Clothes and accessories for my American Girl doll (offbrand is fine!)
  10. Fredericks of Hollywood gift certificate
