Another Day in Connecticut
Didn’t do a whole lot worth noting today beyond finding this cache. The little white kitty hasn’t been seen today, so I assume she’s back home where she belongs. It’s fun to hang out with friends for a weekend, especially when you don’t get to see them very often.
Kayaking and Caching
Today I went paddling, specifically intending to find Row the Potomac. Unfortunately I’d forgotten to program the coordinates into my GPSr*…but fortunately I had my Sidekick with me, so I took it out of my drybag and located the cache page. With the coordinates entered in, it was easy to find the correct island and … Continue reading
Geocaching in Charlottesville
Had a successful day geocaching today! The first one I got was Mr. Jefferson’s Rotunda, my first virtual cache. I originally thought it was actually in the dome room, so we looked around up there first, which was interesting and educational. We then headed outside so I could pick up the GPS signal again, and … Continue reading
DC Leatherfest
The past couple of days have not been too bad. We both took Friday off work and slept in; I had a couple of errands to run and :A: came along. First stop was a cache I’d been to before, the North Shore Travel Bug Hotel, where I dropped off a travel bug to be … Continue reading
Vacation Changes
Well, the vacation plans are no longer so wonderful or concrete. It turns out my mother might not be able to go on the Legend of the Seas cruise. It also turns out the travel agent marked up the cruise price $100pp. I thought she and Royal Caribbean were donating as a thank-you for getting … Continue reading
Maryland Geocaching
I went geocaching with my dad today! We went to Savage Park, which is near where he lives. We started out by finding the Northbound Trading Post, which is located at the only rest area along I-95 between Dale City VA and Maryland House north of Baltimore – a distance of about 100 miles – … Continue reading
Meadowlark Cache
I successfully placed my first cache today! I am still waiting for approval from the local volunteer, but Meadowlark is settled in place on the grounds of the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. (It looks like that link won’t work until the cache is actually approved, but if you’re interested keep checking – or I will probably … Continue reading
Stuff I Keep Forgetting
I lost 11 pounds in my first month on Diet to Go. I know it won’t continue at that rate, and I need to start exercising a lot more, but I am pleased with that start. I kind of exercised today: I went geocaching with a guy from the NoVAGO group. It was a couple … Continue reading
Blah Di Blah
My geocaching can now go paperless! I haven’t used a PDA in a while – I gave my Palm m130 to :A: – but I realized I wanted one for geocaching. :A: pointed out that we still had some old ones…and sure enough, we had two Handspring Visors and a Palm III. Of the three … Continue reading
First Geocaching Adventure
This was really a misadventure, I guess. Last night I tried to find a cache near my house, but it got dark before I could find it and I had to head home. Someone else found the very same cache today, so I e-mailed and begged for help. He gave me a tip that I … Continue reading
