Giving Up on Daily Posting

Nov 22, 2007 Author: Meredith | Filed under: blogging

You know…I think I am going to try to wean myself off posting every day. I’ve missed four days so far in November and I feel bad about it, and to me that is a sign that I take it too seriously. I’m not DCist or Lifehacker, I don’t have multiple authors, there’s just me. So while I will still try to post daily, I won’t kill myself if I miss a day, because it’s not that big a deal. I think.

I had a dream last night about my 10-year high school reunion which is tomorrow. I suppose I should rent Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, too.

Hello There

I am so tired. This is because I am sick. I worked on a paper tonight and actually got it done. I miss friends. For some reason certain cheats aren’t working on my Sims 2, like maxmotives and familyfunds, this is very annoying. But mostly I am tired because I don’t feel well and it makes me kind of grouchy too. Hope everybody has a good night.

Just Another Day

I’m writing this blog post by email, but I don’t think it’s going to work so I’ll end up posting it later. Today was soooo laid back, it was excellent. We watched Candyman and The Omen, which I’d never seen before; last night we watched Stephen King’s It which I hadn’t seen before either. I had to do a little bit of homework today; I finally figured out that Word’s comments are equivalent to OpenOffice’s notes and I was able to revise my paper according to the teacher’s instructions. Other than that I have taken it pretty easy…we are over at my in-laws right now having wine and watching Dexter. It’s a little confusing because we don’t get this channel normally, so we have no idea what’s going on…but my mother-in-law likes it, so watching it we are.

Just a Saturday

This morning we went to dim sum. It was my idea, but there’s not a lot I can eat there - I mostly got vegetarian noodles and the greens. I’ve had the Notorious MSG song “Dim Sum Girl” in my head for days so I decided I wanted dim sum myself. A really likes it but never asks to go because there’s nothing I can eat there, so she was happy to go. We also did some shopping - I got new black sneakers because my old ones were dead. I’ve played a lot of Sims 2 today, and I finally got my first character engaged to somebody. She had really bad luck with men for many days; advancing in her career in medicine but not ever starting a family. So hopefully that’s good now; my Sims blog is here but so far it mostly covers the families I had while I was playing Life Stories. I revised my history paper and sent that in, and I played some Guitar Hero. That’s about it for the day!

Sleepy

I was so tired last night from my mom’s 60th birthday party, that I slept most of the way home (had to switch drivers in Silver Spring to make this possible) and then once we got home around 6:00, I slept all through the night. As a result I am hungry and kind of grumpy this morning, but I have to leave for work in an hour and 15 minutes or so.

Yawning

I am tired. Sleepy.
I realized the last couple of posts didn’t make it elsewhere because I had turned off both transfer plugins while I was tagging a bunch of old entries. Duh. They should be caught up now.
I had a fun time with my friend Robert tonight. I love him like bees love a flower.

Tomorrow I will be participating in the Alumni Bowl contest, playing for the “current students” team against the 1957 and 1982 teams. I’ve done some brushing up on my 1957 factoids but I haven’t done anything on 1982 yet. Oh well, I have a few free hours tomorrow, I’ll do it then. I was actually invited to be on the College Bowl team, but hearing students can’t participate in actual Academic Bowl activities, so I have to stick to the informal stuff.

I just looked through all the previous Academic Bowl teams and I am surprised how many of my friends were on them! I had no idea I had such a wonderful group of nerds around me. I loved It’s Academic, which is basically the same thing. Academic teams rock!

Back from Delaware

We’re back from Rehoboth Beach…back to the land of sales tax. It was so nifty seeing stuff ring up for exactly what it said on the tag! My Torrid clothes were here when I got back, and I think they mostly fit. A isn’t too sure but I like them. The skirt and pants were kind of wrinkled though, I’m not sure what’s up with that. They looked like industrial wrinkles rather than wearing wrinkles. Anyway, I slept most of the way home. And then we got home and we took a nap for another couple of hours. Tomorrow I only have one class, and then our math teacher canceled class so we could work on our projects. It will probably only take an hour or two, nothing I couldn’t have done in the evening, but he canceled class so we could work on it. I am hoping to go to the “pay what you can” chiropractic day in the afternoon to see if they can do stuff with my back. I don’t think chiropractic is a cure-all for everything, but I’m hoping they can stretch me out a bit or something. I’m sure they just want to sell me more sessions, but I’m going to at least check it out.

Homemade Ice Cream

Today is our last day of house-sitting for my in-laws; tomorrow they come home from Disney World. I hope they got us nice presents! (I’m only half-kidding…I don’t expect presents for house-sitting, but I do want something because hello they went to Disney World!)

They have a giant two-quart ice cream maker, so today we made ice cream. I was hoping for something really cool, and we ended up making vanilla with toasted almonds mixed in (left over from a dinner A made on Friday night), and Ghirardelli chocolate chips (I got to do the smashing with a meat mallet), and A was talking about adding cinnamon but I don’t know if it made it in there. It was really good, but I could feel the fat on the roof of my mouth when I was done! We’re leaving the rest for A’s parents. I am going to miss their kitchen…they have every imaginable gadget, and an actual working blender that doesn’t smell like burning when the motor is turned on! I am finishing up the last of some frozen strawberry daiquiris we made.

Housesitting

For the next week, we will be house-sitting for my in-laws. They are on a road trip to Disney World, where they are staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Have I mentioned that I have never been to Disney World? Have I mentioned that they should have taken us to Disney World?

Anyway, we moved over here early this evening. We have stuff for a week, but we only live three miles away anyway. We are partaking of their liquor and watching their HDTV (now I see why deaf people hate the captions on HD, they really do suck) and keeping their cat company. Well, sort of - she is the flakiest, flightiest cat you’ve ever seen and she comes around begging for pets then runs away terrified when you try to pet her. This is still Princess YumYum, by the way, who we had over at our house a couple of years ago while the in-laws were on a month-long vacation.

I already finished my English paper a couple of nights ago, so now I am focusing on my history test. I’ve studied for exactly two out of seven chapters so far, and the test is on Tuesday. I am going to have to start moving through the study guides a lot faster…

Hanging Out on Campus

Sep 22, 2007 Author: Meredith | Filed under: uncategorized

I decided to spend today, tonight, and tomorrow on campus just to see what it is like there on a weekend. So far the answer is: laid back. I have spent pretty much the entire day in the honors lounge, because it is a safe and comfortable place to be. I brought a few different kinds of alcohol but nobody seems to like any of it much! kawaiibishounen bought me lunch and other than that I have just been hanging out here today. Some friends and I watched The Langoliers this afternoon and for dinner we got Chinese food delivered. Not much else is going on but I am having a good time anyway…except this damn lounge is too warm no matter how I adjust the thermostat!
