I’m still waiting impatiently for my schedule to show up on the Gallaudet student services application, but meanwhile I finally heard back from the transfer specialist! If I am understanding the spreadsheet correctly, I currently have 8.5 credits from previous college experience. If I were to get credit for all of my previous experience, I would have 26.5 credits, making me a sophomore. They’re not finished evaluating it though - they are still trying to figure out what some of my courses would be equivalent to, so I may get some additional credits. Reportedly they’ll have everything fixed by the time orientation starts on the 22nd.
Wow, I had completely forgotten what college schedules are like. I realized I can’t do a week-long event in September because, well, I’ll be in school. It’s going to be strange to not pick when I want to go on vacation! Here’s the highlights from the upcoming year’s calendar:
There’s a huge break between fall exams and spring classes starting, perhaps we will take a vacation then. Winter’s always a good time to get away. Or perhaps it will be for spring break, though I don’t know how long it is - only when it starts. Spring break is usually a week, right?
My alumni giving association has put out the best “give us money” letter I have ever seen. The envelope had the phrase “Had your fill of winter blahs?” in fake handwriting on the cover, but it was the inside that made it so cool. Note that I have typed this in verbatim.

I only attended WMC for a couple of semesters, but I have very fond memories of my time there as it was the only time I “went away to college” and lived in a dorm, etc. So I was quite pleased to get a reunion notification letter in the mail yesterday - I would have graduated in 2001, so they have me in with that class and the five-year reunion will be next April. I am hoping to attend if it doesn’t cost too much money, but I probably won’t know many people there. Still, I remember my friends well, and I’d love to see them again. The only problem is that I also had some good friends who were a year ahead of me, so I won’t get to see them. Anyway, I mailed the form back and I’m looking forward to hearing what’s next.
The other night I saw my college acquaintance Eric Barry in a commercial for Domino’s new Doublemelt pizza! Almost four years ago, I wrote about his appearance in the John Waters movie Cecil B. Demented. He and I were in an acting class together at Western Maryland College, and I exchanged e-mails with him a while back but I don’t think he remembered me. I see from his IMDb filmography that he’s done some guest appearances on ER, Boston Public, and Judging Amy, among other shows. But I’m quite certain that was Eric as the delivery guy in the Doublemelt pizza commercial. I hope it turns up on TV again; I’ve seen other Doublemelt ads since but they haven’t featured a delivery guy. I wonder if he still skateboards everywhere he goes…
