I was going to write a long detailed post, but in the interest of maintaining the family’s privacy, I will just ask those of you who pray to pray for my supervisor’s son, who is in the Cardiac ICU at Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC. He is on the fast track for a heart transplant because they hope that will make him well again - but they don’t even know what’s wrong. It’s a very grave situation, so if you are the type to send well wishes or good vibes, please do that too.
Edit: Redirect your good vibes a little bit north; he’s being moved to Johns Hopkins as soon as a bed is available.
I need to get my hearing aids insured against loss, damage, theft, etc. They were $5700 and I have no insurance on them. Does anybody know anything about this? I’ve found a few companies that claim to offer coverage for college students - CSI, Haylor, NSSI - but I have no idea where to start or how to tell if they’re reputable or anything. I’m neither a homeowner nor a renter (no lease) so I can’t do anything from that angle. Help!
I spent most of yesterday asleep because I woke up in the morning with sinus pain and A gave me two Sudafed. So I crashed the rest of the day. I tried watching a movie but I had to pause it for a nap, I tried getting up but I had another nap, etc. I missed yesterday’s gratitude post, so I think I will turn that into an occasional feature rather than a one-month thing. Today I took my sandals to be repaired…despite my post about how wonderful they are, it turns out they are in need of resoling. So I brought them in and they’ll be fixed for $40, plus I did end up buying a new pair - exact same size and style, but this time in black Birko-Flor. That was $70.
I realize this is superficial, and I’ll get more serious later on. But right now I’m grateful for Netflix, which brings me movies I would never have the opportunity to see otherwise. Their catalog is not as unique as GreenCine or other similar movie rental houses, but I haven’t come upon many movies that I wanted to see that Netflix didn’t have. It’s cheap and it’s easy - I only ever go two days without a movie. I watch one on Monday, send it back Tuesday, they get it Wednesday, and I have the next one Thursday. Plus it saves me money because I never have to go to the movies anymore…I wouldn’t spend money on seeing the new chihuahua movie at the theater, but I’ll probably get it on Netflix. Their mobile website is halfway decent, too - as soon as I think of a movie, I pull out my phone and add it to my queue. Yep, I am glad I have Netflix, and can afford to have 2-at-a-time, unlimited per month. Yes, I am.
