First, a definition: “gold star” refers to a person who has never had sex or a relationship with someone of the opposite sex.
Gays and lesbians who flaunt their “gold star” annoy me. Everyone has a different path in life. Not everyone comes from a background where it was okay to be out. Not everyone was sure about their sexuality in infancy. Not everyone who currently likes the same sex has always been that way.
Being “gold star” doesn’t make you “more” gay or lesbian than anyone else. It doesn’t make you better, and it doesn’t make you pure. It just means that you were fortunate enough to be in a situation where you didn’t have to question or hide yourself.
If you are proud that you’ve never been with the opposite sex, that’s great for you. But it doesn’t make you better, just different. Remember, the next time you’re strutting your stuff, everyone chases the rainbow a different way.
