I actually went on the honors retreat this year, unlike last year! This year I got to go as staff, which was a much more enjoyable way to do it. was also on staff in addition to some of my other best friends. It was totally awesome! I shared a room with the honors director because it was the only room with beds, and I wanted a bed because of hurting my back on Saturday night. (For those of you who asked, it was just a , heh!) Turns out she snores, but I’m used to that at home so it didn’t really bother me!
There were definitely some awesome people in the incoming honors group, but there are also some who are going to be a pain in the butt. Speaking of pains in the butt, I had to voice interpret for several hours, because they didn’t realize that a few of the incoming students didn’t have sign skills up to par with the others. Additionally, one of the speakers doesn’t mind one-on-one conversations in ASL, but doesn’t feel comfortable giving lectures in it, so I did voice-to-sign AND sign-to-voice for him. But they say they’re going to pay me, so it’s not all bad.
I definitely had fun this time around but these last two weeks of summer are killing me, mostly because I spend so much time at the hospital that I can’t do stuff around the house. It’s a necessary evil though, because I’ll be working as few as 6 hours per week during the school year, and I need the money.
