Gratitude: Sandals

Posted by on August 1, 2008

I am grateful for my sandals.

I know it is a silly thing to be grateful for, but I did some walking tonight, and my feet are in no pain after. On Wednesday, I wore high heels just to look nice, and I ended up making plans to see a movie with friends after work. By the end of the day my feet were killing me, but I had no extra shoes in my car, so I bought a pair of knock-off Crocs at CVS for $8. Although they made it possible for me to walk from the parking garage to the restaurant and the movie theater, they weren’t my sandals. I have a pair of Mocha Birkibuc Gizeh sandals by Birkenstock, and although it was painful to pay $70 for a pair of sandals, my feet have been thanking me for it for months now. I wear them to work, around the neighborhood, around town, on trips, everywhere I go. They are just so comfortable.

I am not kind to shoes – I supinate just enough that heels end up with very uneven wear, and any of my shoes that are not absolutely flat have to be taken for repair if I wear them with any frequency at all. Not my sandals – I wear them every day and they’re just as fantastic as they were when I got them. In fact, they’re so wonderful that I might get another pair. They sure do make my feet happy!
