Back Pain

Posted by on March 9, 2008

I haven’t posted in a couple of days, bad me. For 24 hours I’ve been trying to ignore really bad back pain, so bad I can’t hardly move. Last night I couldn’t even scratch my nose without it hurting, from moving my arm or whatever. Heating pads, extra sleeping, painkillers, etc. It’s driving me insane, I can’t focus on my homework – I’m supposed to be doing reading for Sex & Gender class tomorrow. I will have to catch a ride tomorrow because I can’t imagine driving like this. It’s insane.

Hi M. I was thinking about you the other day and then today wandered into an old blog you had, Diet Grrl on blogsome. Came here from there. Hope your back is much better by today. Really nice layout on your blog.

I can not read the word verification thing, likely it’s going to take me awhile to post this. Really hate those things.

Don’t ignore your back pain! There are many solutions out there like massage, magnetic therapy, inversion therapy, infrared heat, etc.

I lived with my back pain for years, and finally sought out solutions like those. With the help of my inversion table and a magnetic back brace, I’ve been in good shape since about 2005.

    Hi Meredith,

I work on the computer all day and find I frequently have issues with my back and especially my shoulders. Very helpful to me is focussing on postural exercises and massage therapy. I have also gone to the chiropractor on occasion, when I have difficulty that seems to persist despite my best attention / intentions.

Good luck with yours, I certainly hope your pain has improved greatly!

I’ve had a bad back on and off for years. A weak disc I believe following a fall when I was a child.
For the last 10 years I’ve had little or no back problems at all. Why?
Because 10 years ago we moved house and I now have a large garden to look after. Fresh air and exercise seem to have done the trick for me.

I love your blog; when I suffered from back muscle pain I learned quickly that doing stretches to get flexibility back was a huge help.

10 minutes of stretches each day and good posture at the PC will let you get around back problems. The limited range of motion and prolonged position makes your back muscles easy to pull when you do something even slightly strenuous. Stretches are a good way to keep your back muscles and joints in good working order.

  7. plastic surgery

Keep your movements slow and gentle, and try out natural medicines and herbs before prescription medication. It will be much better for you in the long run. While using the PC, move your head in various directions to stretch your neck muscles.

  8. Inversion Table

Have you tried an inversion table ?

If you use one for five minutes a day you’ll find a noticeable improvement within thirty days.

  9. Inversion Tables

I agree. You should try an inversion table. I recommend the Teeter Hang Ups. I’ve been using it for years now and has yet to fail me.

Hi Meredith, I hope you are feeling better now! I had a similar thing a year ago and I was flat on my back for 2 days. Everyone kept telling me to move as much as possible and I couldn’t understand how on earth that would happen when I had to crawl on all 4 just to get to the bathroom where I laughed at the idea of ever getting up on the toilet. Sorry for this descriptions but back pains are a pain in the neck! Trying to move as much as possible is good for blood stimulation so this would be my advice all though I could hardly do that when I was laying in pains a year ago! Get better! Lisa
