stop teaching your child to hate me
A new company has come out with some nerd t-shirts - they are called GeekFitters.com, but I would say they definitely fall more in line with nerds. (Oh, you didn’t know there was a difference? Well, check out the site and maybe you’ll figure it out.) I don’t get the “Big Papa” shirt, if you understand it, could you explain it to me? I think my favorite is the Microsoft shirt. If these guys get more designs - currently there’s only nine - they might give some of the other popular geeky shirt producers a run for their money. ![]()
I made $70 with paid posts to my blog today, sweet. But I wish I could figure out why Postalicious now retrieves from my delicious account twice, seconds apart…
This is a paid post about a blogger. I have done this myself, just to see what it was like to be on the advertiser things, but I don’t think Markkie is a Postie - which means PPP is turning into a widespread form of advertising! Anyway, Markkie’s blog is powered by WordPress and he is from Malaysia but has very good English! He is attending university in Perth, Australia (I wasn’t able to figure out which one) but his most interesting entries are the one about his trip home to Kuching. I enjoyed reading about how he celebrated Chinese New Year, and I especially liked his many pictures from his trip home. The food kind of scares me though - I wonder if it’s possible to be a vegetarian in Malaysia? ![]()
Oh good grief…they’re going to change where I sit at work, sort of. But instead of being a nice easy move from one cube to another, I am going to sit in my current space three days a week and the new space two days a week, so I don’t really have anywhere to call home.
See, two of my clients are in the area where I sit, and two are in another area several floors away. The two who are in my area can call on me anytime they need to chat with a co-worker; the other two have to schedule me in advance or send an e-mail and hope I’m at my desk to rush down and meet them. Now, it’s perfectly clear that the two downstairs deserve their own interpreter they can call on at any time. It’s also true that these people all work for the same department, and it would be nice if everybody could sit in the same area.
And they were going to put us all in the same area, but the people who would have had to move to make that possible…decided they don’t want to after all. The government can’t afford to hire a separate interpreter to sit with the two downstairs full-time, so they are going to have me split between upstairs and downstairs. They say I will at least get a cube downstairs, so at least I will have a place to sit that isn’t in an aisle or in somebody else’s cube. But who knows if I will have a computer or phone, so it will be difficult for the two upstairs guys to reach me if they need to last-minute, etc.
I agree that this is an appropriate solution since the government can’t hire another interpreter…but I think it’s going to be a big logistical hassle for many people, especially me. So I’m not looking forward to it.
I’d like to share a press release about a new e-mail serivce. Inbox.com combines the folders of traditional webmail services with the innovative labeling seen at Gmail, as well as viewing full threads (which is like Gmail’s “conversations” I assume). They also offer a lot more storage space than Gmail has right now, with a full 5GB mailbox. They are reportedly going to offer photo storage and an organizer as well, which positions them to compete with Google’s “Gdrive” service which technically hasn’t been announced yet but is the subject of much speculation. You can explore more features at the Inbox.com site. The press release follows…
