It’s not Friday, but I just caught up with these questions courtesy Neil and I’m answering them now.

What’s your native language? Do you speak any foreign languages? If so, how did you come to learn them?
My native language is American English, presumably spoken with a mid-Atlantic accent. I speak ASL fluently enough to be a professional interpreter - I picked that one up over the years and took some classes at Gallaudet as well. I speak and understand French reasonably well (I struggle with writing because I’m a perfectionist about grammar) after having studied it for eight years in school. I can still sound out Russian and identify some words because I studied it briefly in high school. My current language project is Esperanto, though I’m not doing much right now in terms of self-study.

What’s your native country? Have you visited any foreign countries? If so, which ones?
I am a natural-born United States citizen. I have visited Canada, Turkey, Grenada, and St. Maarten (and St. Martin). Only Turkey and Grenada are represented in my passport.

Are there any foreign foods, books, movies, or other items that you are particularly fond of? Name some of your favorites.
One of my favorite movies is the German film Aimée & Jaguar. I love Asian cuisine - Thai, Chinese, and Indian - but I don’t like Japanese food.

FQ NATIVE: If you had to trade your nationality for that of any foreign country, which would you choose and why?
I’m still considering moving to Canada. I just don’t like living in a country dominated by right-wing religious conservative zealots.

I LOVE Thai food! There’s a restaurant close to my in-laws that we drive by quite often. It smells a bit rank but the food it to die for!
