Oh my goodness. I ended up installing WordPress on my own server – I just gave up wasting time trying to find somewhere else to put it – and I am looking at all the new features in 1.5, the newest version. One of the features is and they look pretty fucking impressive. I still love my MT blog, but I am going to enjoy playing with WP a whole helluva lot too. Now I just need to transfer all my posts over (haven’t figured that part out yet…where’s the export button?!), put up a redirecting post, and then figure out everywhere I’ve told my old URL and update it. That last part will be the only truly annoying part, I suspect. The rest of it looks like it will be downright fun!
Sleep? What’s that?
I found the WordPress Codex invaluable in setting up and using the software. What I like most about 1.5′s new features are pages, which enable one to create content using the same blog entry interface with or without comments. Toss in a plugin, and that content is then searchable with the blog entries, which makes using WordPress as CMS much more appealing despite the alien PHP tagging format.
So far, I’ve used it for two sites at work with a good deal of success. There are still some features in Expression Engine that keep me linked to that particular software, but WordPress has definitely improved since the last time I installed/used it.
Whoops… forgot to embed the actual link within the context of the comment:
