I was doing some research about the now-disfunct Belchertown State School in Massachusetts, and that led me to read about the history and work of the Danvers State Memorial Committee. That page mentioned the filming of a Hollywood movie on the grounds of Danvers State Hospital. The movie was called Session 9, and when I looked it up at IMDb I was tickled to find that David Caruso and Paul Gilfoyle starred together in that film. I found this amusing because Caruso stars in CSI Miami, and Gilfoyle is a regular on the original CSI. I suspect that if I were a member of Netflix I could get a copy of this movie, but it’s probably not at my local Blockbuster store.

Incidentally, the DSMC’s work is really fascinating. If you have an interest in history, cemeteries, and grassroots activism, it’s worth reading their entire website.

Session 9 is one disturbing movie. It is a good horror movie that doesn’t resort to monsters to scare you, but there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end of the movie.
