I don’t do writing prompts or quizzes very often anymore, but when I saw that the Monday Mission will be ending, I decided I to participate in the last few weeks of questions. I used to do the MM fairly regularly, and its author is a fellow ADHD adult, but I grew away from it as I did with all the other writing prompts I used to do regularly. I ended up being kind of long-winded on this post anyway!
1. Do you have any vacation time from work saved up for the Holidays? Or are you taking any time off or traveling this month? What are your plans?
Unfortunately I have no leave time because I only just started at the company on November 17th. In fact I don’t even get my holiday pay for Thanksgiving, Xmas, and New Year’s because those are all within my 60-day probationary period! (This was obviously a bad time to join the company.) They hadn’t told me about not getting paid for those days, though, so I was surprised to hear about it when my supervisor was reviewing the timesheet that included Thanksgiving and told me she had to change it from “holiday” to “leave without pay.” I called the HR director when I heard (he was the only one in the office that could have helped me with the problem) and he felt bad that nobody told me about it, so I think he might be trying to get those eight hours back for me. But I am traveling this month despite the lack of pay! I am expecting to go (with A) to my parents’ house for Xmas Eve, and then we’ll open some presents there Xmas morning. (Yes, I made the conscious decision long ago not to write that word out unless I absolutely had to. I forget why, but it’s habit now.) That afternoon we’ll go to A’s parents’ house for an early dinner, and my parents will drive back home. (We only live a few miles from A’s parents’ house, but my parents live about 35 miles north.) I will probably be working four hours on the morning of the 26th, and then we’ll go to New York by train or bus.
2. When do you do most of your blogging? During the day, at work, at home, at night?
When I first started blogging, a lot of my writing was done during the day, while I was at work. When I switched to interpreting freelance, I would blog whenever I was in front of the computer, which varied widely. Now that I’m working full-time, I find the only time I have is in the evening, except for the occasional afternoon post if I have time before class. (This is a question for which using Blogtimes would have come in handy.)
3. What tends to keep you from blogging more? Or could it be that you blog too much and should do less?
Sometimes I don’t write anything because I don’t have anything to say, but more often it’s because there are other things I’m more involved in doing online. Exactly what is preoccupying me has varied over time; these days it’s mostly - and I’m somewhat ashamed of this - Neopets. ![]()
4. Do you like dressing up and/or “role playing?”
I like to dress up and look pretty, and I enjoy role-playing to some extent (though I prefer LARPing over tabletop), but I don’t do it very often. I have employed some role-play in my sex life (oh come on, you were thinking it) but I’ve never seen the appeal in cosplay - perhaps I don’t know enough about it.
5. When choosing a mate, there are some things you can overlook (boob size, hairy backs, beer belly, bad teeth, hair lip, etc.) and some things you just can’t (see previous list). What are some of thing things you can live with when picking your partner, and what are the things that are a “must have?”
I don’t really have any physical preferences like that. I “prefer” androgynous and soft-butch girls, but my partner of almost six years is femme like me. I “prefer” lean and toned bodies, but my partner wouldn’t be called either of those words. I guess that a person’s physical attractiveness might determine whether or not I’ll be interested in them, but I’m more likely to actually care about what’s on the inside. If that doesn’t make sense, maybe it would help if I mention that I met my girlfriend online and got to know her before I ever knew what she looked like. Most of my dear friends are those I have met and come to know online, and although I have met a good many of them, only a few are local to me. Ergh, I’m not sure where I’m going with this. It’s hard when you’re not single!
6. Have you ever had a professional massage or ever been to a chiropractor?
I don’t remember ever having a professional massage, but I’d like to go to a chiropractor. I’ve heard they claim back treatments can solve stuff like the common cold and dandruff, but I’m more interested in actual back alignment. I have a lot of soreness in my back - probably from inheriting my mother’s arthritis - and while simple stretching helps sometimes, I’d like to see what a professional could do.
7. Does size really matter? Yeah you know exactly what I mean too. Men, what have you been told and what do you know to be true? Girls, what is the real story and is that what you tell the guys? Have you ever been scared of one that was too big? For both: why do you think this debate is still going on?
For those of you wondering how the dyke is going to answer this question, here’s my response. Yes, size does matter to me. The nice thing about being a lesbian, though, is that I can have any size I want as long as it fits in the harness. I can even adjust the size according to my mood. I’m glad I don’t have a boyfriend who worries that his cock is inadequate.
One Response for "Monday Mission"
Interesting that you’d chose to mention the ADD we have in common, as I just toched on that in a post today.
Very cool!
