Whee, I’m only a day late with the current Weekly Wrapup.

1. Have you ever been nominated for a blogging award? Which one? What happened?
I think I got nominated for one of the Kevin’s Blog Bloggys, but I probably put my own name in. I certainly never won!

2. Would you like to be nominated for a blogging award? Why or why not?
Sure I would. I’d like that affirmation that somebody out there thinks I’m doing a good job.

3. Do you follow blogging awards? Why or why not? Has there ever been a nomination and/or award that surprised or disappointed you? Which one? Why?
I follow them if I know about them, which I usually don’t. I’d never heard of the Anti-Bloggies before, at least. In the most recent round of Bloggies, I was disappointed that DykeWrite didn’t make it for either best webring or best community - I really think we’ve got an excellent group of girls (and the occasional guy). DykeWrite better fits the description of a community webring than any of the other sites nominated, I think.

4. How do you feel about blogging awards? Real? Fake? Valuable? Worthless? Share your thoughts, please.
They’re no less real or fake than the Oscars or the Emmys, etc. I do wish they weren’t quite such a popularity contest, though - it would be nice to see them actually based on merit. For the categories where I didn’t have an easy pick, I actually went and looked at each of the nominees and chose the one I thought deserved to win. It should be that way for all categories, all the time, all around the world.

5. If you could create any blogging award category, what would it be? Why? Who would you nominate? Why?
Heh. Can I create the “most skins” category so I could nominate myself? I’ve got quite a few now, and I’ve got more in the works!
